True to the Paritua style, this is a dark and concentrated Syrah. Estate grown at the Paritua Vineyard in the Bridge Pa triangle, the vines are low cropped and harvested by hand in some of the oldest soils of Hawke?s Bay. After fermentation the wine is matured in a mixture of 225L and 500L French oak, 50% of which is new. Brooding and dense this is a wine that will improve from a good 5 ? 10 years in the cellar.
Smells: An intense nose of blackberry, dark plum, black pepper and five spice.
Tastes: A firm palate of dark fruit, fragrant spice, and hints of cola. The texture is bang on, with silky fine-grained tannins and judice touch of oak. Perfectly paired with roast eye fillet and bearnaise sauce or BBQed mushroom burger.
