Amaro Montenegro is a traditional amaro distilled in Bologna, Italy. Amaro simply translated means "bitter" in Italian. It is made using over 40 herbs, including vanilla and orange peels, bottled at 23%vol. The amaro was first produced in 1885 by Stanislao Cobianchi and was originally called Elisir Lungavita. It was later renamed Amaro Montenegro, after Princess Elena of Montenegro.
