Many have wondered at the origins of the unique taste of Glenfarclas. Some believe the secret lies in the tumbling waters of the green burn married with fresh highland air. Others believe it is in the great copper stills, which continue to be direct fired and some believe the secret is the family's uncompromising commitment to maturing Glenfarclas in the best oak casks in traditional dunnage warehouses. Colour: Vibrant amber-gold. Nose: Fresh and beautifully light, sherried fruit combined with a tempting spicy sweetness and a hint of sappy oak. Flavour: Full bodied, delightful sherried fruit, with oak, a hint of peat and delicious sweet sensations. Finish: Long and flavoursome, with a lingering spiciness.

Good but ...

I like Glenfarclas, both the style and the distillery. For me however this is not their best. It seems "rough" where the 10YO old is "bright" and the 15YO has "mellowed" with that little bit of extra age.

Depending on what your shopping for I'd go the 10YO or put a bit more down and get the 15YO.

Or if you are thinking of trying an over proof the 105 is a good entry level option.

For Speyside this one ticks all the boxes for me, a favourite. Some are sherry rich this is nicer balanced than many, or course all a matter of taste.
Recently visited a new distillery "Cardrona" Wanaka N.Z. and they have based their on Glenfarclas Scotland, says a lot.....10 years to wait until they bottle. Definitely will re- buy.
