Highland Park 12YO 700ml

Can't go wrong with Highland Park our go to whiskey and so many friends are now drinking Highland Park.

As the title says, this bottle is great value for a single malt, it has interesting character (unlike cheaper single malts) and some light smoke is in there too. Usually drink this neat, but recently discovered that it works incredibly well with coke. I'd highly recommend giving it a try.

This is a well balanced whisky with lots of complexity. It has a mild smokiness but also the denser fruitiness from the ex-sherry and bourbon casks.

Bought the 350ml version of this to get a taste. Had it back to back with Glenlivet founders reserve. Way more flavoursome. I'm not a peat fan and find the laphroaig, ardberg, ardmore too be too sooty. I do dabble in teachers from time to time for sessions. This had the perfect amount of sweetness, maltiness and smoky finish. Could easily be an all day, all weather dram. I bought the 350ml bottle for $35 and wish there was more in stock.

There is great excitement sensed by the nose working the exterior scents, that which you get by moving loaded glass fast from table to mouth, reminiscent of the school floors early NZ 1970's.

Mild compared to an Islay, yet gracious smoke still heavy upon the middle to end taste.

A whisky that leaves satisfaction unanswered causing taste of dram after dram to continue till you and your fellows have a consumed bottle. Reason to try again, a mystery to resolve, to have again and again.
