Chateau Garage Cornerstone Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
Only
$64.00
Commercial Description
Made by acclaimed viticulturist Oliver Powrie under his new eponymous label comes an absolutely sensational expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from the acclaimed Cornerstone Vineyard. Since retiring from his role at Villa Maria, Ollie has become a true Garagiste making small batches of sensational, classically made, minimal intervention in his small, turreted, ivy-covered garage in Napier. This Cab is a true FUTURE CLASSIC and was an absolute hit at our 'Future of Wine' tasting in early June. It's powerful and rich with intense blackcurrant, tobacco and leather but also beautiful herbal florals which lift the wine. It's a combination of modernist focus with classical touches that both work and express Ollie's winemaking philosophy perfectly.
Grapes tasting of dark chocolate and foraged fruits were harvested from the vines on the 10th of April 2021. The fermenting wine was hand plunged, and post-fermentation pressed to six fine, French oak barrels. Aromas of fresh chocolate, Bengal tobacco and black olive with an intense palate of wild berries, bramble and seductive tannins.
Alc 13.5%
