$195.00
A mysterious masterpiece and an interactive malt whisky experience that feels like the perfect gift for this strange new world of self-isolation and social distancing.
The Glenlivet always pushes the boundaries of Scotch. And maybe never more so than with the release of Spectra. Inside this black trapezium-shaped box you’ll discover three numbered 20cl bottles in separate compartments, each one tasting wildly different. But Glenlivet aren’t just going to tell you what they are. You’ll have to discover that for yourself, assisted by a bespoke multi-sensory digital experience accessed via a QR code and your mobile phone. According to its makers, The Glenlivet Spectra “invites consumers to explore a wide spectrum of flavours. Each of the three expressions is a reinterpretation of The Glenlivet’s signature smooth and fruity house style and is released without tasting notes, age or cask information, challenging the senses of Scotch lovers.” Expect three exceptional single malts, cryptic hints, tasting challenges and a final scorecard to tell you how close you were to decoding the mysteries within.
The parish of Glenlivet was rife with illicit distilleries, protected by its remote location. A tenacious young man called George Smith opened the first legal distillery in Scotland. Granted for many years he had to carry pistols given to him by the Laird of Aberlour to repel competing moonshiners, smugglers and thieves. But what he successfully defended would go on to become The Glenlivet, a name now synonymous with Speyside, written about by Charles Dickens and at one stage in its history a brand that accounted for over half of the Scotch in America. One of the true greats.
