First time I've tried the 101, it's like reconnecting with an old friend, one who's grown and matured, good to see you again mate...
Can't go wrong with it in any sense. Boisterous drink drunk straight or in a cocktail. Let it rip and enjoy the ride :)
Great high proof bourbon on its own. High rye and compared to (perhaps unfairly) Rittenhouse Rye it's lighter in favour but just as bright. Here is a weird thing for folks drinking Manhattans, WT101 with Cocchi vermouth yields subtle "dirt" flavour. Rittenhouse does the same and more noticeable with Dolin vermouth but strangely not with Cocchi. Jack Daniel's Rye and Woodfords Rye work great with both. No clue why.
