The vintage started with a lovely, dry spring. Some stormy weather during flowering resulted in a lower than expected fruit set. This was followed by consistent rain between flowering and Veraison. After Veraison, the weather improved markedly. The ripening period was fine and warm but not extremely hot. The calm weather resulted in perfectly ripe grapes which were in great condition. The harvest was not delayed and occurred in mid-April.
A ruby brick colour. Elegant perfumed nose of earthy minerals along with fresh, ripe berries. On the palette, medium body of silky, earthy tannins and mellowing fruit. Fresh berry characteristics still giving liveliness to the wine. A long finish to each mouthful. Will continue to develop for a further 5+ years.
