Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve 700ml

This whisky is a favorite of mine because it has a rum finish. Some single malts can be very harsh, even medicinal. However over the past decade distillers are widening the flavour profiles so the whisky is being finished in red or white wine barrels. This brings subtle and often complex taste experiences. Glenlevit do one finished in brandy barrels which is one of my favorites. It sits at a good price point.

Probably not for the seasoned whiskey drinker but for a newbie who is transitioning from the honey-infused, slightly lower alcohol content, whiskies it's a good way to go. Especially if you have a sweet tooth. Or also enjoy a rum. Like me.

Short version: Tasty, sweet The Glenlivet, especially given the price.

Longer version : NSA The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve. While not as complex as other Glenlivet's, this a surprisingly sweet drop. An easy drink if slightly overly medicinal. Good for the price and certainly worth a try, but personally I'd look for other options from The Glenlivet.
